XML is Verbose: Could Network Coding Help?

I read a very interesting article in Scientific American last night.

The article introduces the concept of network coding.

In addition to sharing successes in areas such as multicast networking, the article suggests that network coding could revolutionize networking … and revolutionize could imply the eventual replacement of the current routing and switching-based paradigm.

From binary XML to compression/acceleration strategies to application-oriented networks, it’s clear that there’s interest in addressing the verbosity inherent in XML.

As interest in network coding continues to develop, I hope that attention will be given to it as a vehicle for addressing the verbosity inherent in XML.
